Members of the SANDF and their Mozambican counterparts have embarked on a search for a South African politician and his fellow travelers.

The politician is believed to be a Member of a Mayoral Committee (MMC) in one of Gauteng’s metropolitan municipalities.

The MMC and the people he or she was traveling with were caught in flood waters and their vehicle was swept away.

It is not yet clear whether they are still alive and if they have been able to get out of the vehicle.

The family has gone over to Mozambique to help locate the MMC.
