KZN Provincial Drugs and Firearms Unit Seizes R220,000 in Narcotics During Chatsworth Raid


DURBAN – The KwaZulu-Natal SAPS Provincial Drugs and Firearms Unit arrested a suspected drug dealer in Chatsworth on Thursday, 21 May, seizing illicit substances valued at over R220,000.

The targeted operation was executed after law enforcement officials acted on intelligence regarding a man allegedly operating a drug-dealing syndicate from a local property.

Members of the specialized drugs and firearms unit partnered with an external K9 unit to raid the suspect’s residence. During the thorough search of the premises, police recovered and confiscated:

  • Illicit Narcotics: Large quantities of rock cocaine pieces and mandrax tablets.
  • Ammunition: Four live rounds of ammunition found hidden on the property.
  • Proceeds of Crime: R4,000 in cash, believed to be accumulated from illegal drug sales.

The total street value of the recovered narcotics is estimated at R220,000. The suspect faces multiple criminal charges, including possession of drugs, dealing in drugs, and the illegal possession of ammunition. He is expected to appear in the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court soon.
