BMA weighs in on Beitbridge corruption with over 50 dismissals
BEITBRIDGE – The Border Management Authority has intensified its internal monitoring systems at the Beitbridge border post between South Africa and Zimbabwe to eradicate corruption, confirming the dismissal of over 50 non-compliant officials.
The heightened surveillance targets border officials who facilitate the smuggling of illicit goods and the illegal crossing of undocumented foreign nationals.
According to BMA spokesperson Mmemme Mogotsi, the agency has already axed more than 50 corrupt employees over the past two months for breaching port of entry security measures and tarnishing the institution’s reputation.
“If there are officials that are facilitating this, from the side of border management, I assure you there will be consequence management,” Mogotsi said. “We are not apologetic on our anti-corruption stance. We are not apologetic on illegal activities. We are cleaning out.”
The agency confirmed that strict oversight will remain in place to guarantee full compliance with national border security protocols.
