Chiefs Give Injury Update

Kaizer Chiefs Co-coach Cedrick Kaze provides an injury update on his squad ahead of Sunday’s Betway Premiership clash against Durban City.

Chiefs will play host to the league’s newbies on Sunday, at the FNB Stadium as they aim to return to winning ways after a shocking three back-to-back-to-back defeats in the league.

Amakhosi are on the brink of setting a new negative PSL record should they lose again on Sunday.

The Citizen will be on cloud seven after advancing to the Semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup, with a 5-4 penalty shootout win over Kwa-Zulu Natal rivals Golden Arrows on Sunday, at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

Kaze and Khalil are expected to ring some few changes as several players are ruled out for the weekend’s Betway Premiership encounter.

“For Sunday’s game against Durban City we have two suspensions, Ox [Mthethwa] and Aden [McCarthy],” he stated.

“We are having [Etiosa] Ighodaro that is coming back, he’s been training, him and Reeve [Frosler] for the past week but they are not physically ready yet to feature in the game.

“We still have Brandon Petersen who is recovering from his surgery. [Inacio] Miguel has trained the last three days and we still need to assess him.

“The last two days, [Mfundo] Vilakazi is fully back in training after his little knock that he got against Stellenbosch. Him, he is fully fit.

“The rest of the players are training very hard and are looking forward to Sunday’s game.”

Kaze did not mention Rushwin Dortley, who has been sidelined with a long-term knee injury since March 2025.
