Late Former NW Premier Bushy Maape Laid to Rest
VRYBURG — The official funeral service of the late former Premier of the North West, Kaobitsa “Bushy” Maape, is currently underway at the Huhudi Sports Stadium in Vryburg today, 23 May 2026.
The dignified state-sanctioned event has drawn a large gathering of high-profile political figures and community members paying their final respects.
Among the prominent dignitaries in attendance are Deputy President Paul Mashatile, former President Kgalema Motlanthe, and the current Premier of the North West, Lazarus Mokgosi.
Law enforcement and state protocol structures are heavily represented at the stadium. The South African Police Service (SAPS) delegation is led by Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, who is accompanied by various provincial heads to oversee the formal proceedings and security of the event.
