Mamelodi Sundowns has announced the signing of Portuguese midfielder Nuno Miguel Valente Santos from Liga Portugal side Vitoria de Guimaraes for a fee of around $1 Million (R20 Million).

The 26-year-old Portuguese midfielder arrived in South Africa on Monday to complete his move to the Premier Soccer League heavyweights after the two teams reached a club-to-club agreement for the transfer.

The former Benfica and Charlotte playmaker has penned a ‘ long-term’ deal with the 18-time champions of South Africa, according to Nwereti News site reliable sources.

On Monday evening, Sundowns announced the Portuguese’s arrival on their social media platforms.

“ A New face, A New chapter – Yellow Nation let’s welcome the skillful and dynamic Nuno Santos to the home of the champions.” Sundowns tweet reads.

Santos featured 90 times for Guimaraes, scoring eight goals with 16 assists since his arrival from Major League Soccer (MLS) side Charlote FC in July 2023.

The former Portugal U17 & 21 prospect was part of the Portuguese squad that clinched the 2019 UEFA U17 Championship, but has yet to make his senior international debut at 26 years of age.
