Major General Pienaar, currently serving in the South African Police Service (SAPS) Division: Visible Policing and Operations, will take on the role of Chief of Staff whilst Ms. Matlala, Senior Manager – Market Data Analyst from the Special Investigative Unit, will join the Minister’s office as Personal Assistant.

These secondments come in light of the ongoing Madlanga Judicial Commission of Inquiry, which has named the current Chief of Staff as a key figure who may be required to appear before the Commission. The decision to second Major General Pienaar and Ms. Matlala is aimed at ensuring the smooth, uninterrupted operations of the Minister’s office during this critical period and is further essential to maintain continuity in the administration of the Ministry, particularly in these times of transition and scrutiny.
