Limpopo flood victims call for urgent provincial govt intervention

Flood victims in Makhuva Village outside Giyani in Limpopo are calling for the provincial government’s urgent intervention.

Some have lost all their belongings after their houses were flooded following heavy rains.

A poultry farmer, Thomas Xitlhangu, has lost more than 280 chickens.

The area is near Mbaula Village in which flood waters have flattened 35 houses and swept away a five-year-old boy who is still missing.

These flood victims say they desperately need humanitarian assistance.

“I have lost all my chickens as well as 11 bags of feed, my groceries got swept away as well. I do not have anything to eat now, the house is full of water, up to today. Makhuva community has not receive any help, so we are urging anyone who can help to offer something so that the people who lost everything can get helped, but so far, we did not get help in this disaster.”
