WANTED SUSPECT POSITIVELY LINKED TO STRING OF ARMED TRUCK ROBBERIES IN MARIKANA

MARIKANA – A 34-year-old suspect linked to a wave of violent delivery vehicle hijackings has been arrested following a targeted raid by local authorities. Phethe Hubela was apprehended at his residence in Marikana West on Monday, 11 May, by the Marikana Detective Unit.

Hubela faces multiple charges following an intensive investigation into regional crime syndicates:

During the arrest, detectives searched Hubela’s property and recovered stolen goods positively identified as items taken during the residential burglary.

Following his arrest, police conducted a formal identity parade where victims and witnesses

Hubela made his initial appearance before the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court, where he was formally charged with multiple counts of armed robbery and residential burglary. The court remanded him in custody. He is scheduled to reappear on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, pending further police investigation.
