Ngizwe Mchunu in Hot Water With SAHRC After Viral Podcast Sparking Outrage
The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) has confirmed receiving multiple complaints against controversial media figure Ngizwe Mchunu regarding alleged racist remarks.
The complaints stem from a recent episode of the Bhinca Nation podcast, where Mchunu, alongside music executive Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi, allegedly used a derogatory slur against the Indian-origin community and accused them of exploiting Black South Africans.
Following widespread public outrage as interview clips went viral online, SAHRC Spokesperson Wisani Baloyi stated that the commission is currently reviewing the complaints according to its official handling procedures.
Baloyi reminded the public that constitutional freedom of expression is limited and that the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act strictly prohibits speech intended to cause harm or spread hatred.
