KIDNAPPED TRUCK DRIVER RESCUED AFTER R100,000 RANSOM DEMAND; ONE SUSPECT ARRESTED

GLENCOE – A swift, multi-disciplinary police operation successfully rescued a hijacked and kidnapped truck driver on Thursday afternoon, 14 May. A 57-year-old suspect was arrested during the rescue, and a massive manhunt has been launched for his accomplices.

The incident began on Thursday afternoon when a delivery truck was hijacked and its driver abducted. While law enforcement personnel were processing the initial crime scene, the owner of the truck contacted the police. The owner revealed that the hijackers had just made contact, demanding a R100,000 ransom for the safe release of the driver.

Within a few hours of the abduction, the team intercepted the criminals in Glencoe, safely rescuing the truck driver unharmed.

The arrested suspect remains in police custody and is expected to appear in the local magistrate’s court shortly. He will face charges of hijacking, kidnapping, and extortion.
